It’s becoming more and more likely that Nets guard Kyrie Irving will play elsewhere and the Lakers currently have the best odds to land him.
The latest Kyrie Irving offseason drama is starting to heat up as he has reportedly requested permission to seek a trade from the Brooklyn Nets. If completed, it would be yet another not-so-harmonious end for Irving and his current NBA team.
It was just a few years ago that Irving exited Boston in order to team up with Kevin Durant in Brooklyn. There have been very few “highs” since, including being swept in this year’s postseason by the Boston Celtics.

According to OddsCheckerUS, the Los Angeles Lakers are the current betting favorites to land the point guard, reuniting him with former Cavaliers teammate LeBron James.
Kyrie Irving – New Team Odds
Los Angeles Lakers
-175
Miami Heat
-300
New York Knicks
-400
Los Angeles Clippers
-600
Dallas Mavericks
-600
Philadelphia 76ers
-800
Re-uniting Irving with LeBron would be intriguing to say the least. The Lakers are now two seasons removed from winning the NBA title and the only time Irving found postseason success came as James’ teammate with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Russell Westbrook’s name has been heavily flouted in trade rumors so the Lakers would have a need, assuming Westbrook is on the outs.
The Miami Heat were a missed three-point attempt from reaching the NBA Finals for the second time in three seasons. With Jimmy Butler on the wrong side of 30, a talent influx could be just what the Heat need in order to get back to the Finals. The Dallas Mavericks, the other conference runner up from this past season have the fifth best odds at -600. Much like the Heat, a bit of a talent surge could do this team well in taking the next step. In the Mavericks case, their star player is still very young.
