At +2500 on Bovada, the New England Patriots offer a pretty nice value to win the AFC and make it back to the Super Bowl.
It wasn’t that long ago that the New England Patriots were a lock to be playing in the AFC Championships.
Those days ended with the departure of quarterback Tom Brady, however, that doesn’t mean the team is incapable of making a run to the Super Bowl. Hell, every team is, certainly at this point in the offseason but very rarely do Super Bowl appearances feel like a certainty as they did with Brady under center. That is probably why the early odds for the Patriots to win the AFC and go back to the Super Bowl are ones you would have never seen with Brady under center.

Bovada has been the least favorable towards the six-time Super Bowl Champion giving a line of +2500 for them to return to the Super Bowl. BetOnline and Sports Betting were not too much better at +2200, however, this creates a great opportunity for a legitimate dark horse Super Bowl candidate out of the AFC.
Now, I am not saying the Patriots are definitely going back to the Super Bowl. There are probably a few teams that would get picked ahead of them at this point, however, you aren’t going to find much better value at +2500 for a team as talented as New England.

Let’s give Bill Belichick and the coaching staff credit. After one down season post-Brady, the Patriots rebounded and returned to the playoffs last year. In addition, at one point late in the season, they were actually in control of the division over the Buffalo Bills, everyone’s popular Super Bowl pick in 2022. That doesn’t mean they are better than the Bills but making it back to the Super Bowl shouldn’t sound so ridiculous at the end of the day.
Ultimately, it comes down to the development of second-year quarterback, Mac Jones. The team around him is talented and they made it back to the playoffs largely because of that and Jones himself after a solid rookie season. If he takes another step in 2022, it is not out of the realm of possibility that the Patriots find themselves competing for the AFC crown, even in a very deep conference.
If you take the plunge at +2500 or even at +1800, you’ll be a very happy person if they DO win the conference. In which case, you may be kicking yourself for not doubling down and taking the +5000 for the Patriots to WIN the Super Bowl.
