Our next win total selections for the 2022 NFL season lead us to the NFC East.
It can be risky or rewarding if you decide to go in on win totals for two teams in the same division. The NFC East has often been the NFC “Least” for the last several years. Both Dallas (12-5) and Philadelphia (9-8) qualified for the playoffs a year ago before losing in the Wild Card round.
The Cowboys are the reigning division champs. Unbelievably, an NFC East team has not repeated as division champs since the Eagles did it in 2004.
The Cowboys lost wide receivers Amari Cooper and Cedric Wilson Jr. in the off-season. Running Back Ezekiel Elliott is a year older, and unfortunately, for Cowboy Nation, another half step slower.
Head coach Mike McCarthy, in his third season with the Cowboys, is under immense pressure. A slow start by the Cowboys could result in McCarthy being relieved of his duties. That specter puts undue pressure on a team.

As I’m sure you can tell, I think the Cowboys will not perform as they did a year ago and will not win the division nor even qualify for the playoffs.
The Cowboys’ win total is always inflated because of the incredible popularity of their brand. Under 10 1/2 wins for Dallas, this season is the pick.
Conversely, it almost seems to be a gift that the Philadelphia Eagles will win more than 8 1/2 games this season. They finished strong going 9-8 to secure a Wild Card spot last season.
They added superb wide receiver A.J. Brown in the off-season. Brown and second-year Wide Receiver DeVonta Smith should give third-year quarterback Jalen Hurts ample weaponry for his continued development.
On the defensive side of the ball, a pair of rookies will inject talent and enthusiasm. First-round pick Jordan Davis and third-round pick Nakobe Dean, both fresh off winning a National Championship at Georgia, will add size and speed to the Eagles’ defense.
Since I fully expect the Eagles to win this division and be a dark horse contender to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl, over 8 1/2 wins for Philadelphia is one of my strongest selections among future bets.
