The 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs are underway as the first round is finally complete with the second round getting underway here on Tuesday, May 2nd. Like with the first round of the playoffs, gambling sites alike will have people wagering on all the hockey from now until the Stanley Cup is awarded. Sites like Sports Interaction immediately put up odds for teams to win the Stanley Cup, among other different odds. The action gets underway tonight as fans will be able to place bets during live games.
The Boston Bruins were the favorites to win the Stanley Cup, but that is no longer the case as the Bruins were eliminated in Round 1 by the Florida Panthers. Joining the Bruins on the sidelines is the Colorado Avalanche, which means the Toronto Maple Leafs and Edmonton Oilers are the new favorites as previewed here. Like with the first round, we will be previewing the second-round series with their betting odds and who will be advancing to the Conference Final.
2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs Second-Round Series Betting Odds
Toronto Maple Leafs (-169) vs Florida Panthers (+150)
As it was in the first series against Tampa Bay, the Toronto Maple Leafs are favored to win this series at -169. The Panthers are a smart value play at +150 to pull another upset. With everything going the Maple Leafs way in the first round, the monkey is off their back. Now the team could play more loosely. But you could say the same thing about the Panthers. Neither team has gotten past this round in a really long time. The last time for Florida was in 1996. While for Toronto it was 2002. This one feels like it could go the distance with the Leafs advancing.
New Jersey Devils (-133) vs Carolina Hurricanes (+102)
This is a legit pick’em series even with the Devils being the slight favorite. New Jersey advanced to the second round for the first time since 2012 after beating the Rangers in Game 7 of their first-round series. Carolina needed six games to beat the Islanders in the first round. This will be the fifth time these two teams have met in the playoffs with the Hurricanes holding the slight edge 3-1. However, the Devils took the season series over the Hurricanes. The Devils will need to use their speed as they did against the Rangers, but this time get off to a faster start against a very good Hurricanes team that finished one point ahead of them in the standings.
Dallas Stars (-222) vs Seattle Kraken (+165)
The Dallas Stars are an overwhelming favorite against the Seattle Kraken. This will be the most lopsided matchup in Round 2. But with the way Seattle is playing, you cannot take them for granted. You know someone will take that +165 on Seattle to win. Both teams rely on their goaltenders to be successful. Seattle likes to roll four lines and are very physical with their forechecking style. That plays into Dallas’s hands as they like that physical game as well. This should be a good series. Slight edge to Dallas, but do not underestimate these expansion teams.

Edmonton Oilers (-147) vs Vegas Golden Knights (+129)
The Edmonton Oilers are the favorite against the Vegas Golden Knights despite not having home ice advantage. But as we have seen home-ice does not matter in the playoffs this year. Leon Draisaitl continues to show he is a playoff performer. Connor McDavid has yet to get going and he is due for a breakout. Vegas cannot take any penalties if they want to win this series. Just ask Los Angeles how that worked out. However, the Golden Knights are showing they are built for this time of year. Jack Eichel and Mark Stone are just starting to get going. This will be an electric series to watch.
