The 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs had no shortage of drama and excitement. Heavy favourites were knocked out and upset early. That trend continued all the way until the Stanley Cup Final. One team was able to rise above the rest to capture the Stanley Cup. That team was the Vegas Golden Knights. The Golden Knights Stanley Cup odds improved with each passing round.
The party has yet to stop in the City of Lights Las Vegas, Nevada as the Golden Knights closed out the 2022-23 season as Stanley Cup Champions. As the party and celebration continue, the Golden Knights will celebrate their day with the Stanley Cup. Vegas is the first team to have their names on the Cup before having their day with the Cup. We here at Full Press Bets and Hockey thought what better time than now to look at the way to early odds on who is going to win the Stanley Cup next season?
Vegas last season was +1000 to win the Stanley Cup last year. There were a lot of unknowns with that team after missing the playoffs the prior year. However, the Golden Knights made more history by going to their fourth Western Conference Final and second Stanley Cup Final in six years. Then fulfilling owner Bill Foley’s Prophecy by winning a Stanley Cup in six years. Now the defending champs see their odds to repeat in a similar spot as last year.
With the NHL Draft and Free Agency in the books, let’s dive into the odds of who will take home the Stanley Cup in 2024.
2023-24 Stanley Cup Odds (via Bovada)
Carolina Hurricanes
+900
Toronto Maple Leafs
+900
Colorado Avalanche
+1000
Edmonton Oilers
+1000
New Jersey Devils
+1000
Vegas Golden Knights
+1100
Boston Bruins
+1200
Dallas Stars
+1400
New York Rangers
+1400
As we look at the odds some things stand out. The defending champs are not getting any respect. Vegas opens at +1100 to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions. Reilly Smith was traded to Pittsburgh so Vegas can re-sign Ivan Barbashev and Adin Hill. Yes, there will be a Stanley Cup Hangover, but you can never bet against this Vegas team. They always seem to make history.
Meanwhile, oddsmakers have the Carolina Hurricanes (+900) and Toronto Maple Leafs (+900) as the favorites to win the Stanley Cup Final. Carolina is bringing back their roster from last year with a couple of new additions in Michael Bunting and Dmitry Orlov. On the other hand, the Maple Leafs have a completely new look with John Klingberg, Ryan Reaves, Max Domi, and Tyler Bertuzzi. But until they go deep in the playoffs can anyone really trust them?

The Avalanche (+1000) will also have a new look this season with no Gabriel Landeskog. Thus they bring in Ryan Johansen, Jonathan Drouin, and Miles Wood, and extend Bowen Byram. The Oilers also have +1000 odds. Can Connor McDavid finally get a Stanley Cup on his resume? It has to come soon and it will come down to goaltending for the Oilers.
A sneaky good play is those New Jersey Devils (+1000). The Devils re-signed Jesper Bratt, and Timo Meier, and traded for Tyler Toffoli. They are building a winner, if they land a top-notch goaltender, those odds will go up.
The defending Eastern Conference champs Florida Panthers come in at +1600. Florida will have to deal with injuries to Aaron Ekblad and Brandon Montour to start the season. Yes, they brought in Oliver Ekman-Larsson, Niko Mikkola, Dmitry Kulikov, and Mike Reilly to solidify their defence, can this team recover from going deep in the Stanley Cup Playoffs?
Interesting to see the Boston Bruins coming in at +1200 with so many changes especially down the middle and on their bottom six. They brought back Milan Lucic, signed James van Riemsdyk, Kevin Shattenkirk, and Morgan Geekie. But everything comes down to what David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron decide.
