The 2023 Championships Wimbledon has reached the final weekend. And it is Championship Sunday at the Championships. Marketa Vondrousova and Ons Jabeur took home the Ladies Title on Saturday. So everyone’s attention will be on the matchup of Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic. The number one and two players in the world are meeting in the final and it is a rematch of the Roland Garros semifinals.
Entering the tournament, Djokovic was the odds-on favourite to win the tournament. But right behind him was Carlos Alcaraz at +350. Everyone was hoping for Djokovic-Alcaraz Final on Sunday before the tournament began. Well, now we have got it after two dominating performances in their semifinal contests.
Alcaraz was putting together a great match against Djokovic in the semifinals at Roland Garros before his body gave out as he cramped up and Djokovic just steamrolled the final two sets. Hopefully, Alcaraz learned from that and his body will be ready to grind this one out.
Djokovic is looking to make history with a win as he would tie Roger Federer with an eighth Wimbledon Title. He would also be three-quarters of the way to the calendar Grand Slam and it would be his 45th Grand Slam title tying Margret Court for the most Grand Slam titles in the history of the game. Alcaraz will be playing spoiler as he looks to win his second major title and the third Spaniard to win the Wimbledon title.

Novak Djokovic (-180) vs Carlos Alcaraz (+150)
The odds clearly favourite the defending champion here. And why not. Look he has won the title seven times. The pressure is on him and rises to the occasion. Djokovic knows the young guys want his “scalp” and defeat him, but he says “That ain’t happening.” He understands pressure is a privilege and in the pressure moments, Djokovic steps up.
Just look what he did to Jannik Sinner in the semifinals on Friday. He saved all six break points faced including two sets points in the third. Djokovic just plays the bigger points better. Sinner had chances to break early in the first two sets. He could not convert and Djokovic went on to break. Djokovic’s mindset is just different. He wants to make history and be the best tennis player ever. Numbers wise he is better than Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Popularity is a different story.
The young Spaniard will be a tough challenge. Alcaraz won at Queens Club heading into Wimbledon. And thoroughly dominated Daniil Medvedev in straight sets. Alcaraz’s forehand is a thing of beauty especially on grass. He moves his feet so quickly to rip that forehand crosscourt or down the line. Alcaraz took advantage of Medvedev’s receiving position. He was just too far back and did not make that adjustment. He will learn especially on this surface.
We have seen upsets in the Gentlemen’s Final before involving a player from Spain. Both players have dropped only two sets to get to this point. Expect at least one tiebreak set. Those usually favour Djokovic, but Alcaraz has played them well in this tournament as well.
We have seen a young player deny Djokovic of history once before. Can they do it again? All eyes will be on Centre Court Sunday morning.
That does it for your 2023 Championships Wimbledon Gentlemen’s Final betting odds preview. Enjoy the match.
